Question by Samina: How long does it take for a fibroid to form?
My mother thinks that I have a fibroid and I have a doctors apt in a week. But it doesn’t feel right to me. How long does it take for a fibroid to form? And what does it feel like.
I know it causes painful sex and heavy menstrual bleeding, both of which I don’t have.
Can anyone tell me?

These are usually slow developing. Most people never know when they have these. And, you can’t feel it because it is IN your uterus usually. You need to ask your gynecologist these questions.
Answer by What the?
Many women have fibroids, some go undetected and don’t cause symptoms however an imbalance of female hormones over a woman’s reproductive years from say 30 yrs and older could cause a small undetected fibroid to grow. Typical symptoms are heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain that gets worse around the menstrual cycle, abdominal bloating, and fatigue. Infertility is also common for women with fibroids. And there is also a greater chance of getting them if you have a family history.
